Anderson Mill Spring festival, held last Saturday at Harper park North West Austin, had a great neighborhood turnout. I was very happy to meet and interact with my neighbors and my friends .
I saw so many beautiful craft items; I had to stop myself from purchasing every single item that I liked.
Sorry everyone, I did not have my camera with me, so I did not take pictures of the spring festival.
I promise myself, later this year at the fall festival, I will have my camera ready to snaps pictures and post the pictures to my blog.
Nevertheless, here is a picture of one of my handcrafted bag I sold to a very nice customer.
If you are curious to view the other items I sold at the Anderson Mill spring festival then check out my shop @ Cgmcdesigns
One of my co-workers once asked me what prompted me to design my new drawstring purses. I will say it was desperation. Let me explain. At my day job my office space is very tiny. I have very little room on my desk for my phone, handbag , lunch and my paper work. My handbag mostly sits on the floor below my desk. It is very uncomfortable and awkward when reaching to grab something for my bag. Most of the time I will keep my bag on my desk even though I do not have the space for my bag. I became very anxious to find a solution to my lack of desk space problem. My first idea was to design a smaller bag to help with my desk space issue. However, due to limited bag space, it restricted me on what I can and cannot carry in my bag .
My desperation had me researching many fashion magazines in search of a simple solution. After many days observing different bags styles and sizes, I found my answer. I was going to design a functional but chic round bottom base draw string fashion bag .
The drawstring bag will definitely stand out from the crowd. Since the bottom of the bag is round it is perfect for small office space. My bag height, which is about 15 inches or higher, give me the opportunity to carry my lunch, phone and all my must have accessories with ease. It is washable so I do not have to worry about getting it dirty, or pay a huge fee to dry clean the bag. Lastly, I have the option to design a draw string bag style, color and size for myself or for my customers. To me it was love at first sight .
The draw string bag I design fits nicely on my small desk. The size was perfect and the bag fabric colors complemented my work area. The highlight of my day was when my coworkers love the bag, and few of my coworkers look at my bag with envy. I was told that my bag looks like a designer bag and few coworkers suggested that I should sell some to their friends . I told them to check out my store at https://www.etsy.com/shop/Cgmcdesigns or I can custom made any style or designs that pleases them.

It has been a busy month for me and I am still behind building my inventory to reach a total of eighty items. Then to top it off my cell phone died on me. My cell phone could have died during black Friday sales or during the Christmas sales. No, it had to die when cell phones are not on sale. Since my phone is my life line, I had no other choice but to purchase a new phone.
After drilling the poor customer service representative, I finally made up my mind on what phone I wanted to purchase. I decided to get the new HTC max phone, which by the way was not cheap, but had one feature that I love. If you guess it is the battery life then you are very correct. I always wanted a phone with extended battery life and the new HTC max phone had that feature.
I needed a cell phone case and screen protector for my phone. So I asked the very friendly representative how much it was going to cost me to purchase the phone accessories. I almost had a heart attack when she told me it will cost an extra $75. I thank her for her time and told her that I will only purchase the phone. Once I hang up the phone, I went to my favorite online store and purchase a phone case protector for only eight dollars. Yes everyone eight dollars. Then I found my favorite material and I sew the phone case to protect my phone facing.
The moral of the story is, sometimes you can find creative ways to help save money. I spent only $8 instead of $75.
What a crazy month I had . I did the impossible, I did two major craft shows back to back with only 5 days apart from each other. I know what you are saying now, She must be nuts! That is how I felt few days ago, but I was able to accomplish my crazy task. Now that it is all behind me, I am working on rebuilding my inventory for next month craft show. Yes I am a crazy woman but I love to sell my craft at these shows. Here are some pictures my son took at the two shows that I sold my bags, pillows and purses at .
See if you can make out my stall . Let me know what you think of my son pictures
Despite the fact it rained all day last Saturday, I braced the weather and set up shop at the San Marcos farmers and craft fair. It was fun to be outdoors enjoying the cool air and socializing with potential customers. Sad to say, I close my stall by noon due to an incoming thunder storm. Hence, I took only one or two pictures of my stall. Enjoy.
I welcome comments about my pictures. You can tweet me on twitter or leave a comment on facebook
The year 2013 is almost over. November is history and December has 27 days left before it to becomes history. As I look back from the first day I open my shop at www.zibbet.com/cgmcdesign to this present-day I had to laugh and cry at my accomplishments and errors. It has been a long journey, but I have learned so much from the people who wanted to see me succeed with my online business. For everyone who helped me along the way, I am grateful. I will like to share some of the advice I received.
“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe it will achieve.” Meaning if you believe you have the talent to do great things in life, and you are working to accomplish that dream, you will achieve your dream. On the flip side, if you believe in your talent, but you are not pursuing it, then it will only be a dream. Never give up and always believe and have faith in yourself.
Every disappointment we face should be taken as a lesson that we should learn from. It should never keep us back in life, but help push us forward to accomplish greater things. For example, over the thanksgiving weekend and on cyber Monday I was frustrated with my sales. I did not sell a single item from both my shops at www.zibbet.com/cgmcdesign and www.etsy.com/shop/cgmcdesigns. Some people will close up shop and stop pursuing their dream; I decided that this was a learning experience for me. All I needed to do was to discover the key factors that aid in the decision making of my customers not purchasing my pillows and cushions. I love challenges, hence this will be a fun but challenging project to research my customer likes and dislikes, on colors, shape, size and designs.
Always continue to learn and grow and always be hungry for knowledge. With knowledge come power and power equals sales. I leave with you my favorite advice given to me by my brother. “Everyone can sell pillows or cushions but it take a knowledgeable business person to sell life styles.”
As black Friday draw near be observant when using your credit card to purchase item online. Black Friday is a great shopping day for most people and it also a great cyber-criminal day for cyber scams.
If you have not had a chance to check out my E shop at www.zibbet.com/cgmcdesigns, starting from today until next week Tuesday December – 3 – 2013 all my pillows, Christmas covers and cushions are 25% off.
